A Poem of Hope for the Depressed

posted in: Uncategorized | 0

You wrestle with the darkness

You can’t escape the pain

Your thoughts are running wild

You question if you’re sane

For days and months you struggle

To climb out of the mire

Stumbling towards the light

Afraid you’ve lost the fire

Your mind is bleak and weary

The lies are screaming loud

The battle for your joy

Is where your heart is found

My eyes have all but faded

My strength is crumbling

How long now must I suffer

And feel my sorrow’s sting?

Draw near to me my loving God

Please lift my heavy weight

I trust in you, in Christ alone

To make the rugged straight

Resting in your steadfast love

One day I will be cured

When Christ returns from heaven’s throne

By faith I will endure
